Using the field guides
Updated October 9, 2026
Purpose of this website
CoolOps Field Guides provides informational articles and examples for US HVAC technicians. Each guide states its scope. Use the material alongside current manufacturer instructions, applicable requirements and your professional training.
Examples and downloadable documents
Sample customers, work orders, readings and prices are fictional. They illustrate documentation and do not describe work performed at an actual property. Sample tax calculations are not instructions for handling a particular jurisdiction's taxes.
You may print, download and adapt the provided blank worksheets and examples for your own service documentation. Replace demonstration details with accurate information before using a document for a real job. Do not present a CoolOps example as an agency-approved form or an independent inspection certificate.
Scope and current information
A general guide cannot determine the safe procedure, required record or correct measurement for every system. Regulations, equipment requirements and product features can change. Consult the linked primary sources and the actual equipment documentation when a decision depends on those details. These pages do not establish a technician-client relationship or provide individualized legal or tax advice.
The CoolOps app
The website can link to CoolOps on the App Store. The app's current purchase information appears there. App use is subject to the applicable license terms, including Apple's standard end-user license agreement where applicable. Downloading a website PDF does not create an app account or import that document into the app.
